The Weekend Gallery is a small but ambitious gallery in Hastings on the Sussex coast. It has been operating for the past 18 months, showing fine and applied art. The gallery has two main specialisms, showing a diverse range of original and limited edition printmaking and a programme of contemporary figurative art. The programme reflects the eclectic tastes of the owner, Jane Brumfield, with a definite bias towards narrative, visionary, art brut and/or outsider art - work which demonstrates the eccentricities, fragilities and irrational nature of the human condition. Although some of the work may lean towards the strange and/or macabre there is always a thread of humour or glimmer of optimism. The gallery is also developing its representation of artist printmaking and has a growing stock of original and limited edition prints. In addition we have a changing display of ceramics and jewellery. The Gallery is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
