Jane Andrews' most recent work, executed over a two-year period
following her husband’s diagnosis with Parkinson’s
Disease, is often dark. However there remains a quirky and
engaging humour, which subverts and makes comment on social,
cultural and domestic restrictions. She describes her work
as dealing with “character, identity and survival
strategies; my attempt to understand, interpret and laugh
at the complexities of life.”
Jane Andrews won the Emerging Artist Prize at the Limner Gallery
in New York in 2001 and the Lukas Painting Prize in 2002.
She comes to the WeekendGallery fresh from a successful show
at gallery@oxo on the South Bank, London. She has exhibited
widely across the UK, in USA, France, Denmark, Italy, Germany,
Switzerland and Spain.
